The races are called "Wild and Scenic" for a reason. The remote location of the Bighorn Mountains has provided the perfect environment for a grueling mountain run. This "Wild and Scenic" run is easily reached by Interstate 90, if you choose to drive. However, if a road trip is not in your future, you may decide to travel by air.
Sheridan County Airport will bring you right to our quiet little town. Book your quick friendly flight from Denver, Colorado DIA on SkyWest, which services Sheridan, WY. Car rental is available by Avis or Enterprise in Sheridan.
You can also fly to Billings, Montana Logan International Airport located 130 miles north of Sheridan. From the airport, you will need to rent a car.
Casper, Wyoming's Natrona County Airport is also a possible destination. It's located roughly 140 miles south of Sheridan and will also require a car rental.
Gillette, Wyoming's Gillette Campbell County Airport is another choice. Gillette is approximately 100 miles east/southeast of Sheridan and will require a car rental.
While CREWING or PACING it will serve you best to have a vehicle. As with most 100 mile trail runs there is a lot of mileage covered while attending to your runner. Most of the travel you will be doing will be on paved highway and improved gravel road, but after looking at the course information and maps, a 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended if you plan on going to Sally's Footbridge Aid Station. The road to Sally's Footbridge is not improved and includes creek crossings.
While in Sheridan book your stay at our partner hotel The Sheridan Center Best Western Hotel downtown Sheridan which is most convenient. Packet Pick-Up and drop bag drop-off will be held at this Bighorn partner hotel which includes a great restaurant and lounge called Bistro 307.
